The 2018 Jaguar XE SV Project 8 has been unleashed, claiming to be the brand's fastest and most powerful road car. Official videos were released prior to its grand launch this weekend.
Jaguar has unleashed its newest road car that promises to be a supreme performer. The 2018 Jaguar XE SV Project 8 is one powerful beast that is also planned to be the second Collector's Edition car from the automaker. To make the sedan extremely special, only 300 units will be sold globally.
Jaguar unveiled the new sedan through its official Twitter account. The company posted three videos showing off how fast and powerful the new model is.
The first video introduces the new XE SV Project 8. It boasts of its 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine that can deliver 600 PS of power and 700 NM of torque. It also comes with an 8-speed quickshift.
In another video, the automaker displays the ultra-fast performance of the new sedan. The new XE reached 0-62mph in just 3.3 seconds, making the model the fastest road car ever produced by Jaguar.
The third video teases the extreme performance of the new sedan. It shows how the new XE ascended with ease the Shelsley Walsh Track, which is the world's oldest motorsport hill climb.
The limited edition sedan will be the first model to be completely assembled by Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) at the Technical Center in Coventry, England. The SVO team has stiffened the springs/shocks/bushings of the new model by adjusting the chassis. The control arms were also redefined, while the anti-roll bars were modified for better grip and traction.
Jaguar Land Rover Special Operations Managing Director John Edwards said that the SVO was tasked to achieve the maximum potentials in terms of performance, luxury and all-terrain capability. Edwards also mentioned, "Project 8 is a great example of what happens when enthusiastic designers, engineers, and manufacturing specialists are given the opportunity to create an extreme performance sports car without compromise."
The 2018 Jaguar XE SV Project 8 is scheduled to make its global debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed later this week. The automaker has not released any official word regarding the prices and release date for the U.S. market.
