The epic battle of the Japanese definitely ensues! The battle between 2018 Toyota Camry and 2018 Honda Accord is inevitable given the fact that both sedans are the best of its kind. Both have been steadily getting good reviews and it is but normal for the two be facing-off against each other.
For one, the 2018 Toyota Camry is considered as the next generation of America's favorite sedan. Well, this is easy to understand. The Camry has been highly supported by U.S. buyers for a good a period of time. At one point, it has even been reviewed as stale and outdated. In spite of this, Americans still support the sedan at the end of the day.
The 2018 Camry, however, comes refreshed, veering away from its reputation as outdated and old-fashioned. It has even checked all the boxes in terms of having the characteristics of an impressive sedan. It rides on an all-new platform called Toyota New Global Architecture, which is 30 percent more rigid.
The Camry comes in lightweight because of its aluminum hood and thinner steel in its body. It also uses high-strength steel in the substructure to make it even more lightweight and highly agile. There are three powertrains: 4-cylinder, V-6, and the Hybrid. These don't disappoint as each powertrain don't fall below 200-horsepower (206-, 301-, and 267-horsepower respectively).
The 2018 Honda Accord, on the other hand, will not easily give up the fight. The Accord is Honda's Best Seller and has gone through a dramatic makeover. Unfortunately, the 2018 Accord may not be as powerful as its Japanese rival. It is reported that the Accord will not have the 306-horsepower 2.0-liter turbo engine found in the Civic Type R.
Instead, it will have a 2.0-liter turbo four, which is mated to a 10-speed automatic. The power output is expected to be between 190- to 205-horsepower. The Accord is tantalizing in its own right. From spied photos, it looks like it will adopt the Civic's roofline. Even better, rumors do say that the Accord Hatchback may have its comeback.
Obviously, both the 2018 Toyota Camry and 2018 Honda Accord are two of the best. With what was presented, the Camry is clearly the easy winner. However, it doesn't mean that the Accord is not any better. It is a worthy opponent, maybe trailing ever so slightly behind the Camry. Either of two makes an excellent choice, no doubt!
