Aston Martin has revealed its lineup of supercars to launch every year starting this year. CEO Andy Palmer announced the names and timetable for the new models that include a mid-engined model. Interestingly, a new Valkyrie features a customized seat.
Aston Martin has reportedly gained a new financing agreement that will pump up its capacity to produce an impressive lineup of supercars this year and beyond. A new rival for Ferrari 488 has been planned to be launched as well.
AutoExpress exclusively claims the CEO has revealed to them that the new DBX has been set to debut in 2019. Palmer teased that this is the brand's ultimate mid-engine rival for the Ferrari 488. In addition, this is the first time that the CEO has confirmed that a new model with mid-engine has been set to hit the showrooms in 2020.
Furthermore, the automaker confirms Valkyrie has been set to jump-start the new lineup of mid-engine sports car. Aston Martin has also sought the skills of Red Bull F1 designer Adrian Newey to take charge of designing the new rival for Ferrari.
The CEO also expressed the company's trust that the new Valkyrie can best deliver the genes to compete with the Ferrari 488. Palmer said, "The mid-engined car will be a composite type of vehicle, but feature some of the technology from the [new] Vanquish."
Palmer also mentioned that for the next seven years, they have prepared to debut one car every year. He also detailed that "It starts with our GT cars: DB11, Vantage and Vanquish." Apparently, the brand has already planned a new DB12 to replace the DB11.
After the launch of DBX, Aston Martin has scheduled to introduce two variants of the new Lagonda. Palmer explained that they are coming out with Lagonda One and Lagonda Two, with each variant having a seven-year life span.
In summary, the lineup of models to be launched beginning this year are: V8 Vantage in 2017, DB11 Volante and Vanquish in 2018, DBX and Valkyrie in 2019, the Mid-engined supercar in 2020, Lagonda 1 in 2021, Lagonda 2 in 2022 and the new DB12 in 2023.
Meanwhile, the new Valkyrie is reportedly coming out equipped with the most advanced seats. Aston Martin is reportedly offering a sophisticated body-fit seat molded to suit the driver. The automaker plans to achieve this through the 3D-scanning of the body of the driver before producing the seat.
