A man allegedly burned down his neighbor's house over the fact he wouldn't cut his lawn according to North Carolina police.

Phillip Roger Bennett, 58, turned himself over to authorities after getting so angry at the sight of Marty Corbitt's lawn he felt the need to burn Corbitt's house down.

The two have been in a back-and-forth battle over the state of Corbitt's lawn for quite sometime now and Bennett even slapped Corbitt across the face once after an argument the lawn.

Corbitt's house was located directly across from Bennet's according to the Inquisitr.

"My grass is too tall for him. I was going to cut it today when he set it on fire," Corbitt said according to MyFoxAtlanta.com.

A police report said that Corbitt was inside his home with his children when Bennett knocked on his door. Thinking that his neighbor might try something violent, Corbitt locked the door and refused to come out.

Bennett then walked up to the kitchen door again, with a gas can in hand, and smashed it against the door's glass. He then grabbed a brick and threw it through the window and once he was inside he started pouring the gas into the kitchen according to Corbitt's description of the event.

After he was finished pouring the gas, he took a lighter out and light the gas, igniting flames in the kitchen which eventually spread throughout the house.

Corbitt was able to grab his daughter before leaving the house through the backdoor and was forced to watch his home burn before police and firefighters could arrive to the scene. He lost everything in the fire according to the Inquisitr.

Bennett escaped before police arrived to the scene, but turned himself in hours later after fleeing to North Carolina and was being prepared to be transported back to Georgia as of press time.
