Google could possibly face a class action lawsuit due to the issues experienced by Huawei-made Nexus 6P. The issues indicated include bootlooping and battery issues and phone shutdown, among others.
Chimicles & Tikellis LLP (C&T), a US law firm, is currently conducting an investigation for a potential class action lawsuit against Google and possibly Huawei, too. Indicated in the lawsuit are reports of the Google Nexus 6P shutting down and bootlooping.
The bootloop usually points to a hardware issue. A bootloop happens when a Google Nexus 6P restarts and then the Google logo appears. However, the phone would restart again and this repeatedly happens until the battery has been drained.
Now, since this points to a hardware issue, as Google also said, and Huawei made the Nexus 6P for Google, Huawei does seem to be responsible for this specific issue. But the company has since denied responsibility.
The second issue concerns the phone's battery. The device would indicate a battery level of around 10% to 60 percent, but then the phone shuts down. Now, Huawei indicates that this is a problem with Android.
Users instead switched from Marshmallow to Nougat, although it didn't fix the issue. Also, Google has given this issue a low priority. So don't expect a fix anytime soon.
A similar case happened to LG before when a few of the company's devices were displaying bootlooping tendencies. First of is that the device will be stuck in the boot animation and doesn't necessarily starts the phone, but cycles back to the restart and then boots back up. You then get a non-functional device.
Thus, an investigation was started to check if a class action lawsuit is in place so that consumers do receive the attention and compensation they truly deserve for the Google Nexus 6P. But by the looks of it, Google and Huawei have been pointing fingers at each other and neither of the companies has found a way around or even solved the issue.
