The list of winners for the 2017 World Car Awards has been announced recently. The New York Motor Show became the stage for the outstanding car models for this year. Topping the list is Jaguar F-Pace.
The luxurious performance SUV, Jaguar F-Pace has just been awarded the World Car of the Year 2017. At the recently concluded New York Motor Show, the British SUV stood out to be the new best car in the world.
The Jaguar F-Pace victory marks the first time in the history of the prestigious award to give a British car with the overall crown. Since the World Car of the Year has started in 2003, it is only now that the winning vehicle came from Britain.
Aside from the World Car of the Year award, there were 5 other categories. The winners were determined through the casting of votes from75 international jurors.
The international jurors include Mike Rutherford and Steve Fowler of Auto Express. The jurors cast out their votes for the six categories. Winners are listed below.

WORLD CAR OF THE YEAR: JAGUAR F-PACE. This first SUV from Jaguar has taken over the much-coveted crown. The new F-Pace has outsmarted the other premium SUVs enlisted in the overall category.
WORLD CAR DESIGN OF THE YEAR: JAGUAR F-PACE. The new SUV has hooked this award too. The new F-Pace has an edge among all the other contenders because of its impressive looks, based on the brand's design language translated into a classy yet tough SUV.
WORLD LUXURY CAR OF THE YEAR: MERCEDES E-CLASS. This luxurious car was introduced last year. Now, a lot of people preferred this model over the other brands due to its elegance. Meanwhile, the Mercedes E-Class has been listed as a runner-up for the overall title last 2010.
WORLD PERFORMANCE CAR OF THE YEAR: PORSCHE 718 BOXSTER/CAYMAN. The brand has been making its niche in the Performance Car category. Once again, Porsche has won this category, which marks the fifth time.
WORLD URBAN CAR OF THE YEAR: BMW i3. The new i3 from BMW has proven it is still among the list of pursued urban cars on the market today. Car enthusiasts especially like its cool interior, state-of-the-art exterior design, and electric powertrain.
WORLD GREEN CAR OF THE YEAR: TOYOTA PRIUS PRIME. The new Toyota has grabbed the World Green Car of the Year award for 2017. The new Prius Prime won over Chevrolet Bolt and Tesla Model X.
