High octane is the focus in the latest teaser video of the highly anticipated 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon. More specifically, it has been confirmed that the Demon will run and switch from regular gas to 100+ high-octane race gas with only a push of a button. Again, the muscle car is the world's first factory production vehicle offering such feature, among its many other firsts.
Following a series of teaser videos and with less than a week away from its massive debut at the New York auto show, Dodge has finally confirmed what many have been speculating. The final bit of teaser says it all.

Now, before jumping to that, we know that the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon will deliver so much power than the Hellcat. This could range from 757 to 1,121 or even higher. But these are mere estimates based on the teasers.
These estimates might even change now that its official the Demon is running on 100+ high-octane race gas, which according to Dodge promises to lead to "big changes in elapsed time." The muscle car will have 2 fuel pumps and larger fuel injectors. This is so that there will be a higher fuel flow compared with that in the Hellcat.
Since we already know as well the each brand new Demon will come with its own Demon Crate designed to help beef up and optimize the muscle car for the drag strip, it also includes the new Powertrain Control Module (PCM). This specifically calibrates the premium unleaded race gas together with the center console switch cluster which houses the High Octane fuel button.
By pumping in more better burning fuel is the benefit of using high-octane fuel is that the car's engine can run at a higher potency, minus engine shock, or when the air and fuel mix igniting before the piston is fully extended. Thus, the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon's supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 is still safe.
Since there is only 1 fuel tank, there is an inevitable possibility that a mixture could happen. However, when PCM that monitors the engine's knock sensors detect that the high-octane race gas's level has dropped for High Octane mode, a warning is sent telling the driver to switch to regular gas.
But note that the dash switch and the PCM must be installed after the delivery of the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon. Thus, this will be the buyer's/owner's task.
