The 2017 Renault Megane RS has been officially teased by the brand on its social media account with a new video. The automaker confirms the new RS is coming this 2017 and it looks like it will have a new set of headlights.
In celebration of reaching the one million likes on the official Facebook account of Renault Sport, a video was posted recently to express the company's gratitude for its millions of fans. Surprisingly, the clip also featured a teaser on the upcoming flagship.
By the end of the clip, a scene showing a fully covered car in a seemingly dark warehouse can be spotted. The car cover contains the big letters "RS" on the side facing the camera. Moreover, a caption "COMING SOON 2017" which hangs above the covered car can also be noticed.
The last scene of the clip hints on the upcoming 2017 Renault Megane RS. The caption also confirms the new flagship is set to be launched this year.
Meanwhile, we have spotted an interesting light reflection at the front of the covered car in the clip. It can be noticed that the headlights seem to have a new design.
There is a reflection of an inverted "C" light framing of the headlights shining through the car cover. This is different from the headlights design of the current Megane RS model available in the market.
Following the release of the teaser video, reports are now speculating that the next generation Megane RS will most likely show up at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show slated in September.
Furthermore, other reports predict the new RS will probably debut at the Monaco Grand Prix happening in May. Apparently, an event dubbed "Revelation Renault Sport" has been set to be held during the Grand Prix weekend, which further strengthens the May launch theory.
In addition, the new Megane RS has been spotted with heavy camouflage prior to the official teaser video. The spy photos could not unveil more details except that there will be a central twin-pipe exhaust protruding a cut-out from the rear bumper.
Renault has not released an official statement regarding the launch of the upcoming 2017 Renault Megane RS. It remains to be seen if the new model will debut in May or September.
