Tesla Motors co-founder Elon Musk responded to a quote by former Republican vice-president candidate Sarah Palin, who called the company "losers" according to a Facebook post.
On April 5, the former governor compared Tesla to Fisker Automotive, an electric car company that fired over 75 percent of their employees and owes 192 million to the government.
"The company regrets having to terminate any of its hard-working and talented people. But this was a necessary strategic step in our efforts to maximize the value of Fisker's core assets," the company said in a press statement according to the Associated Press.

"This losing tax-subsidized venture joins other past losers like the Obama-subsidized Volt that gets 40 miles per battery charge, or like the Obama-subsidized Tesla that turns into a "brick" when the battery completely discharges and then costs $40,000 to repair," Palin said in a statement on Facebook.
"This is really just the latest manifestation of the administration's crony capitalism as their green energy buddies benefit from this atrocious waste of taxpayer money," said Palin according to Facebook. "Americans really need to get outraged by these wasteful ventures. As we've seen time and time again, We the People are always stuck subsidizing the left's 'losers'."
Palin's Facebook rant didn't seem to bother Musk much, but he did feel the need to defend his company through a statement on his Twitter account.
Conservatives like Sarah Palin have targeted Musk before, like when the Tesla Model S was named Car of the Year by Motor Trend in November. During an acceptance speech, Musk reminded people that Mitt Romney once said the government's investment in the Tesla was a "loser" according to the Associated Press.
