A man dressed in a Cookie Monster costume was arrested in Times Square on April 7 for pushing a two-year-old to the ground according to The New York Post.

The report claims Osvaldo Quiroz-Lopez posted for a picture with the boy and when the boy's mother refused to give him a tip he decided to knock the boy over.

The incident took place at around 2 p.m. in Times Square according to the formal police report. Quiroz-Lopez also cursed at the woman, demanding $2 for the picture, before pushing the child to the ground.

Police arrested the man and charged him with assault and endangering the welfare of a child according to the NYPD. He was taken to the Midtown North station house shortly after the incident.

The 33-year-old dressed as the famous "Sesame Street" character has no prior arrests according to the Associated Press.

Quiroz-Lopez blamed his diabetes for the outbreak according to the NYPD but has not issued a public statement yet.

A number of incidents have occurred involving people dressed as notable fictional characters like when a man dressed as SpiderMan punched a woman in Times Square this past February for not giving him a tip after a picture.

In another incident this past December, a person dressed as video-game hero Mario was charged with forcible touching after grouping a woman in Times Square according to The New York Post.
