Former NFL MVP Peyton Manning returned to TV screens across the U.S. this week during the NCAA Men's Basketball Final Four. This is the second ad Manning has done to help promote a new Buick model, this time for the 2013 Verano compact luxury sedan according to a company press release.

"We're talking about the new Verano but using important football lingo. Last year we were calling audibles and this year it's a spot called 'Blindsided,'" said Manning in the GM press release. "No one wants to be blindsided, especially a quarterback. Usually you have one guy protecting the blindside but these features are so good, it's really like having 11 guys blocking your blindside."

The spot, called "Blindsided," features the vehicle's standard Read Vision Camera, as well as a number of safety packages available to customers by GM. The package includes Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Side Blind Zone alert according to GM.

The two new alert systems share a set of radar sensors that are hidden in the corners of the rear bumper that helps "drivers avoid crashes" when they change lanes or back up.

The Rear Cross Traffic Alert senses cross traffic from up to 65 feet away according to GM and isn't visable to the driver when backing out of a driveway or parking space according to GM. Those who purchase the new model will be alerted through red directional arrows displayed on the Rear Vision Camera screen and through three directional beeps.

"Peyton Manning is approachable, and that's synonymous with what Buick is - an approachable, down-to-earth luxury brand," said Tony DiSalle, vice president of Buick Marketing in the company press release. "And while he's certainly elevated and premium in terms of his position in the NFL, he's easy to relate to and likeable."

The ad premiered during the NCAA Final Four game between Wichita State and Louisville on CBS. Manning is no stranger to commercials, having been featured in spots endorsing products like Wheaties, DirecTV, Papa John's and Gatorade since his career began back in 1998.

Manning is a 6-time First-Team All-Pro member, has been voted to 12 Pro Bowl games and is the first person to ever to win four NFL MVP awards. He led the Indianapolis Colts to a Super Bowl victory back in 2007, and was named Super Bowl MVP for his efforts.
