After successfully releasing a jailbreak for devices running on iOS 6 or higher, the team known as the Evad3rs has announced this week they won't attempt a jailbreak for iOS 6.1.3 according to the International Business Times.
The team was the only one to accomplish a safe and successful jailbreak to free devices like the iPhone 5 and the latest iPod and iPad devices.
Over 20 million users downloaded the jailbreak called EvasiOn, and for six weeks their site was easily one of the most visited webpages on the internet.
The new iOS also blocks anyone from bypassing an iPhone lockscreen using its emergency call function, allowing the user to make a call or gaining partial access to the phone's private data according to Forbes.
Apple allowed the jailbreak to go on for over a month before releasing their newest update iOS 6.1.3. The update was created by Apple with some assistance from the evad3rs, as four of the six bugs that allowed them to jailbreak the iOS in the first place were discovered thanks to the jailbreak.
Respected iOS hacker David Wang, known on Twitter as Planetbeing, predicted that the jailbreak wouldn't last long even before iOS 6.1.3 was released. That being said, he claims the team already has a strategy to jailbreak iOS 7 once it is released.
So while that is good news for people who want to purchase future Apple devices, those who have upgraded to iOS 6.1.3 are out of luck. The team won't even attempt to jailbreak the iOS as the effort put forth doing so wouldn't be worth it in their eyes.
EvasiOn co-creator Joshua Hill, known on Twitter as POsixninja, stated that he's figured out everything necessary in order to help him create the next jailbreak, but would have to do so by himself if he does in fact release it to the public.
Hill wasn't specific in his Tweets however, as he could mean that he's created a successful jailbreak for iOS 6.1.3, iOS 7, or even iOS 7.1.
Apple is expected to showcase iOS 7 at the World Wide Developers Conference this June according to a report by iDownloadBlog.
