News of a fresh entry to the Moto X line have been circulating the internet since November 2016. Today, a new leak of the Moto X 2017 was released.
The new leak provides a better idea of what the specs will be for the upcoming design. It also sheds some light to its design.
Ever since the Lenovo takeover, Moto's devices were changed drastically - especially when it comes to the design. Moto previous had unique material choices and a dual front-facing speakers. Now, those materials were replaced with front-mounted fingerprint sensors, futuristic cameras, and metallic and glass design.
Online, a person named Jerry Yin has released multiple photos of what seems like a prototype of the Moto X 2017. The leaked photos also include the specs of the device.
Up front, we can see the message "MOTOROLA CONFIDENTIAL PROPERTY. NOT FOR SALE." This message is the traditional Motorola prototype identifier often found below the "Moto" logo.
The leaked photos also show an oval fingerprint sensor on the front. The Moto X 2017 (model number XT1801) has a dual rear camera and a flash in front.
Front-facing flash is getting more popular on smartphones these days. There's also a singular earpiece in front, which is likely to be a speaker.
The stock lock screen is also visible. When faced downward, the Moto X 2017 leaked photos show a Moto 360-esque camera. It also looks quite similar to the Moto Z.
The difference is, this new model contains two cameras inside. It will be interesting to see just how Moto will be able to execute this. Te design also features antenna lines, a gunmetal gray color on aluminum (presumably), and a shallow-looking Moto dimple.
Pins for Moto Mods doesn't seem to be on the model. It is also worth to mention that the XT1801 model number is printed on the sticker.
The person who leaked the photos also included a photo of the bootloader screen which reveals so much about the Moto X 2017. Check out the photos below.
As for the specs, Android Police recently wrote a report about it. An excerpt from the report reads:
The CPU is listed as an MSM8953, which is more commonly known as the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625. 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, both from SK Hynix, are onboard as well. These specs indicates that the Moto X line is likely moving downmarket, considering the decidedly mid-range specs and the Z's status as Moto's current flagship.
