A car crashed into a Las Vegas restaurant patio on April 1, injuring 10 people before the vehicle finally came to a stop according to the Associated Press.
The driver, Gage Lindsey, 18, is being held on DUI charges, as well as a number of hit and run and reckless driving counts as well. The crash occurred at an Egg & I restaurant on Sahara Avenue near the Las Vegas strip at approximately 12:30 p.m.
Close to 150 people were inside the popular restaurant at the time according to the Las Vegas Sun.
Firefighters had to save at least four people from under the vehicle according to witnesses.
Those injured during the incident were taken to two different hospitals, and more than two were "seriously" hurt according to Las Vegas fire spokesman Tim Szymanski.
One woman suffered a broken leg during the incident, and another was thrown from the restaurant area into the kitchen due to the force of the crash according to the Associated Press.
"I screamed, 'A car's coming!' and it exploded through the window," Suziliene McDonald, a witness, said according to the Associated Press. "The motor was still revving and the dust came right after it, just like in the movies."
Two men were inside the Lexus that crashed into the restaurant, and both, including Lindsey, tried to run according to McDonald. It took more than three men to make sure they stayed on the scene.
"He kept saying he blacked out," McDonald said of the driver, who sat shirtless in handcuffs on the sidewalk while police investigated. "But he was awake when he ran from the car."
The passenger in the vehicle refused to talk with reporters. Police have indicated he won't be charged with a crime according to the Associated Press.
The driver also supposedly tried to get rid of drugs he had on his possession at the time of the crash.
"As serious as it was, we are amazed there were no fatalities," Las Vegas Fire Department spokesman Tim Szymanski told The Las Vegas Review Journal.
