Google Shopping Express, designed to provide same-day delivery of food and other products bout online started today in select locations according to the Associated Press.

Google didn't reveal how many customers they'll be delivering to on their first day, but if all goes according to plan the company will most likely expand their service to other markets as well.
The delivery program was designed by Google to increase consumer reliance on the Internet, allowing the internet company to show more online advertisements, which helps websites like Google generate most of its revenue according to the Associated Press.
Having to wait days or even weeks for deliveries of online orders to arrive is one of the biggest cons when trying to decide if shopping online is worth it or if it's better to just find whatever item you're looking for at a store.
Companies have attempted many solutions in recent years however to make sure they keep customers away from stores like Target and Walmart.

The company is offering six free months of delivery through the program for places like Staples, Toys R Us, Office Depot and Walgreens.
Two examples include Amazon and eBay, who offer same-day service in some markets and single day delivery in others. Competitors have caught on to the trend however, as even Walmart now offers same-day delivery in at least five different markets according to their company website.
Google is trying to join in on the fun with their Google Shopping Express program, and regional, neighborhood merchants and national have started signing up the past few weeks.
Google has hired courier services to make deliveries to places like offices and homes. The couriers will drive Google trucks and wear a custom designed uniform according to the Associated Press.
