What is better than "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2?" A double-feature with the first film. Writer-director James Gunn recently confirmed on his official social media account that a double-feature of his science-fiction films will be released to select RealD 3D theaters on May 4.
This is not the first time that theaters opted to release a marathon of Marvel movies in one sitting. In 2012, together with AMC Theaters, the entire first phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe was shown. The marathon started with the first "Iron Man" movie which served as the first act to the "The Avengers" film, according to Entertainment Weekly.

In 2015, a longer marathon feature was also employed to premier the "Avengers: Age of Ultron" film, and just last year, Marvel presented an all-Captain America playlist to open the "Captain America: Civil War" installment.
Gunn said in a statement, "See a Marvel Studios Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.1/Vol.2 double feature exclusively in RealD3D on Thursday, May 4th at 4:30. That's right! Over four hours of Guardians bliss with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1 followed by Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 at select locations.
Gunn confirmed that guests of the double-feature presentation will receive exclusive perks like posters and souvenir collectible button set. Earlier this month, box office analysts have started tracking the presence of the upcoming sequel on several social networking sites.
According to Movie Web, "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" is expected to open at an impressive $160 million debut, based on box office predictions. If this is true, it will be less than $20 million to topple the record set by "Captain America: Civil War" which opened in the same time frame last year.
