The successors of the BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo is finally rolling out to showrooms in the United States, for the first time, this summer. One of the confirmed models, the 2018 BMW 640xi Gran Turismo, sports the new B58 engine.
Powering the new BMW 6 Series is a 3.0-liter six-cylinder turbocharged engine. The same engine is now available for the 740i and the 340i models. The engine is rated to deliver up to 320-horsepower and 332lb-ft of torque between 1380-5000rpm.
The new BMW 6 Series packs a rather sweeping roofline and a trunk design that makes the car look like a hatchback. While this is a completely new series, some motoring analysts cannot help but notice the subtle design cues taken from the 5 Series.

The new BMW G32 6 Series Gran Turismo has shed a lot of weight. The car is based on BMW's Cluster Architecture which is a modular platform that uses a mixture of steel, aluminum and carbon fiber in order to reduce weight, according to BMW Blog.
For the European market, BMW will roll out both diesel and petrol engine variants. For the diesel lineup, BMW is expected to release the 620d, 630, and the high-end M650d xDrive which packs the new B57 quad-turbo engine. Regarding the petrol lineup, BMW will roll out the 630i, 540i, and M650i xDrive. The latter of the bunch will have the same 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8, just like the one from the G30 BMW M550i xDive.
BMW has yet to confirm it, but the automaker is expected to offer at least one hybrid model which will be sold under the iPerformance brand. The official price and full specs lists of the cars will be provided prior to their official launch.
