General Motors announced today that the 2014 Buick LaCrosse will be released this summer with new features like an improved infotainment system and a new interior design.
The LaCrosse will be shown for the first time officially at the New York Auto Show and will be sold in the U.S. and China by August according to a company press release.
"We evolved the interior and exterior design, increased luxury amenities and materials, and enhanced the safety and personal technologies to give customers more reasons than ever to rediscover Buick," said Tony DiSalle, U.S. vice president of Buick Marketing in the company press release.
GM has released a number of new specifications for the new model like advanced safety technologies, front and rear styling, and wing-shaped LED daytime running lamps. Redesigned central instrument panel and consol is also standard, and a Ultra Luxury Interior Package will be offered once the vehicle arrives in showrooms.
The 2014 model is offered with either all-wheel-drive or front-wheel-drive and two powertrain options according to GM.
GM has confirmed that a 2.4L engine with eAssist light electrification technology and a 3.6L direct-injected V-6 option will be made available, both with a six-speed automatic transmission.
LaCrosse sales globally have surpassed 500,000 since 2009 and U.S. sales reached 57,000 in 2012 alone, making it one of the most popular full-size sedans today.
GM expects the new model to compete with the Acura TL, Lincoln MKZ and Lexus ES350.
The new vehicle will be built at GM's Fairfax, Kansas plant.
