GM Recalls 33,700 Vehicles To Fix Software Issues Found In Buick LaCrosse, Cadillac SRX Models (VIDEO)

General Motors Co. is recalling approximately 33,700 vehicles world-wide to fix potential software problems that could increase the risk of a crash according to Reuters.

GM said they vehicles involved in the recall include 2013 Buick LaCrosse sedans and Cadillac SRX crossover vehicles.

The problem with the cars is that the transmission could "unexpectedly" go from manual to automatic mode without the driver knowing it according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's web site.

The recall affects 26,582 models in the U.S., and the rest were sold in Mexico, the Middle East, Canada and China according to GM.

No accidents or injuries have occurred due to the transmission issues.

The Cadillacs were built from May 29, 2012 through Feb. 18, 2013. The Buicks were produced from Apr. 25, 2012 through Mar. 6, 2013 according to the Associated Press.

Local dealers will reprogram the transmission control module free of charge. The company has yet to say how long repairs will take, but it should only be a couple of hours.

The recall is expected to start on Mar. 28 according to GM. Cadillac owners with questions can call 1-866-982-2339 and Buick owners can call 1-866-694-6546.
