Just a little over a month after the most popular jailbreak tool of all-time, EvasiOn, was released, Apple has now made it close to impossible for users to jailbreak their phones thanks to the introduction of iOS 6.1.3.

The new iOS available for modern iPhone, iPad, and iPod devices was released today, Mar. 19, meaning bad news for the jailbreak community. The upgrade includes a security patch for a bug in iOS's time zone settings, one of the few reasons the hackers were able to jailbreak Apple devices running on iOS 6 or higher in the first place.

The new iOS also blocks anyone from bypassing an iPhone lockscreen using its emergency call function, allowing the user to make a call or gaining partial access to the phone's private data according to Forbes.

In short, owners of the previously mentioned devices shouldn't upgrade to 6.1.3 according to Forbes. If you do, you will not be able to use the evasiOn jailbreak for your phone.

In an interview with David Wang, one of the four hackers who developed evasiOn, Forbes was able to accurately confirm that the update will make it impossible for users to have jailbroken devices, for now anyway. In total, Apple was able to fix six bugs and even credited the evad3rs, the team of hackers behind evasiOn, for helping them find four of them according to a note by Apple.

In just six weeks since the tool was released, 18 million people downloaded evasiOn, which easily makes it the most popular jailbreak of all-time according to Jay Freeman, the administrator of the Cydia app store for jailbroken devices.

Approximately 18.2 devices running iOS 6 have visited Cydia since the jailbreak tool was released. Of that number, 13.8 million are users of an iPhone device, where as 3.4 million are iPad owners.

Millions of iPhone 5 users had to wait over four months since the release of the phone to jailbreak their devices, causing a number of fake websites to appear all over the internet promising a successful jailbreak. All of them turned out to be fake or just trying to scam some desperate Apple users, that is until the evad3rs.

Now it seems they'll have to wait again if they do upgrade to 6.1.3. Wang has already confirmed his team will most likely wait to try another jailbreak until the next major release. This would mean users will have to wait until the rumored iPhone 5S comes out sometime this year.

EvasiOn currently allows Apple owners to free devices like the iPhone 4s, iPhone 5, iPad and iPad mini and more people have done so than ever before.
