The 2017 Volvo S90 is the brand new midsize sedan that replaced the S80 in the Swedish automaker's lineup. With the S90 a fully recognized flagship sedan, built on a brand new platform, new design concept, new engines under the hood, and virtually no carry-over pieces from the previous sedan.

With a sleek, coupe-like figure, bold upright grille, and a stylish LED headlights, the new S90 is more stylish compared to its predecessor. The update continues inside, where the car's cabin is trimmed with high-quality wood and metal accents.

The all-new 2017 Volvo S90 still keeps many features of the S80 but adds a more powerful powertrain, more cargo space, improved infotainment system, and semi-autonomous driving capability. Although the brand's 2017 model is already an impressive luxury effort, it still lacks some of the polish of its European rivals, like the BMW 5 Series, Audi A6, and the redesigned Mercedes-Benz E-Class.

The new Volvo is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that is available in two power grades, T5 and T6. The engine equipped in the T5 models is a 2.0-liter turbo four that produces 250 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque while the T6 engine uses a 2.0-liter super and turbocharged l-that produces 316 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque.

Both engines are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. T5 models are offered with front-wheel drive, while T6 models are AWD.

On the inside, the new S90 seats are immersed in an elegant, minimalist cabin that rivals anything from its German peer. It gets a new interior, new wood inlays and chrome and metal accents wrapping from door to door across the dash. It also offers a generous 17.7 inches of trunk space, one of the largest cargo holds in the segment.

The 2017 Volvo S90 is also the automaker's largest four-door, five-passenger sedan, that offers with two engines and two trim levels called Momentum and Inscription. Pricing for the new S90 lineup starts at $47,945 for the T5 Momentum and goes up to $57,245 for the T6 Inscription model. But adding a full slate of options like a cold-weather package, air suspension, head-up display, excellent Bowers and Wilkins sound, and other packages will push the price up to $65,000.
