Subaru announced today, Mar. 11, the release of a completely redesigned 2014 Subaru Forester. The company promises that the new vehicle will maintain its strong reputation for "performance, dependability, safety, and versatility" according to a company press release.
Subaru claims that the new model is an evolution instead of a revolution, as it will be released with a "bold" exterior design and an interior with more space, improved technology, and fuel economy.
New improvements for the 2014 model include Hawkeye headlights, a taller grille, and sport designed front bumper. All models come with black side cladding and body-door handles as well.
Each new Forester model includes an aluminum hood to make the vehicle lighter, new partitioned front-door side glass and door-mounted mirrors to improve side visibility for drivers and passengers according to Subaru.
The Forester was built on a new platform which features a wheelbase that is 25-millimetre longer even though the vehicle length and width increased by only 35 and 15 millimeters, respectively according to Subaru.
Due to brand new cushion springs, front seats are more comfortable for long trips compared to other models, and certain 2.5i vehicles feature seats that can recline back and rear seat folding center armrest with two cup holders.

The new Forester comes equipped with a 2.5-liter Subaru Boxster engine that produces approximately 170 horsepower and 174 pound-feet of torque. The 2014 Forester 2.0XT models come with a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder Subaru Boxster engine that uses a combination of direct fuel injection, Subaru's Dual Active Valve Control system and turbocharging with an intercooler according to Subaru
All 2.0XT models come with Subaru Intelligent Drive, a engine performance management system that allows all drivers to choose between three different driving characteristics: Intelligent, Sport, and Sport Sharp. The change is accomplished simply by clicking a switch on the steering wheel.
The 2014 Forester also offers Subaru's EyeSight driver-assist system, which was first included on the 2013 Legacy and Outback vehicles. This stereo camera-based system provides a detection angle wider than most radar-based systems according to Subaru.
The base price for the new Forester starts at $25,995 according to Subaru.
