Most wrecked cars are worth something to someone; at the very least the salvageable parts can be sold for a little cash.
But a wrecked Ferrari 599 GTB that once belonged to Real Madrid soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly worth a whole lot more than a junkyard scrapper.
Ronaldo's wreck could fetch as much as $26,000 when the car is put up for auction on eBay, according to the New York Daily News, citing a French newspaper.
The red Ferrari was totaled in 2009 in Manchester, England when Ronaldo crashed the $330,000 car near an airport, the Daily News reported.
This is not the first time Ronaldo's wreck has been for sale on eBay; the car was previously listed but the auction site took the listing down after requesting further proof that the car had been owned by Ronaldo, the article said.
A lawyer for Star Autos, the car's current owner, has reportedly said the sale is ready to proceed after providing eBay with the necessary proof of ownership.
The lawyer said that he and is client were "very satisfied" that they had been given the green light to proceed with the sale.
The garage reportedly bought the Ferrari 599 GTB from a Portuguese vendor for close to $43,000 and opened bidding on eBay at $65,000. Before eBay withdrew the listing, the high bid reached $162,000.
Star Autos took action against eBay after the site withdrew the listing out of concern that the story about the car's superstar owner might not have been genuine.
The report stated eBay would pay Star Autos an undisclosed sum in "damages."
No date was given for the new sale.
