Porsche, one of the front runners in developing self-driving mode, introduces the "Mark Webber Mode" that aims to teach car enthusiasts racing driver skills. The app is called "Mark Webber Mode" since it is programmed to the former Formula One, and currently Porsche Le Mans racing driver, Mark Webber.
The app imitates the overall racing skills of the person it was programmed with starting from braking to acceleration times. It gives amateur drivers the best view of how professional race car drivers took off; basically, the overall experience.
Porsche CEO, Oliver Blume stated via CarAdvice, "We are thinking at Porsche that when you go on a race track, it's an opportunity to use an app where, for example, Mark Webber drives you on the track, and you see how to brake, where to accelerate, the perfect line to cross the track." The "Mark Webber Mode" also brings fun while learning the basics of Car Racing Skills. Blume added, "at the end you can match it with your own driving abilities. You might say at the end, 'oh, Mark Webber is 10 seconds faster than me - why?' Then you can go into details: later braking, accelerating, better racing line."
Since Autonomous Driving Technology is coming soon, Porsche is reaping all the benefits it could get from the technology. The introduction of the "Mark Webber Mode" makes amateur drivers become a better driver, and learn from the safest learning system. Blume also pointed out that this new technology will be of great use to all Porsche customers.
