The 2018 Volvo V90 was unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show this year. It is arguably the most elegant wagon in the world. The best part is it is coming to the United States!
According to a report by Motor Authority, the V90 is the replacement for the V70. It initially made its debut at the 2016 Geneva Auto Show last March. However, it finally made its local debut earlier this year. Additionally, it is scheduled for delivery to the United States this summer!
The reason behind the delay is Volvo's decision to give US buyers a more rugged V90 Cross Country first. This model arrived as a 2017 model and is already available in the United States. The new V90 is a 2018 model.
The 2018 Volvo V90 is available in two powertrains. The T5 is a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-4 engine which is capable of 240 horsepower. It will only be available with front-wheel drive. The T6 powertrain is a supercharged and turbocharged version of the T5. It is capable of 302 horsepower and will be available in all-wheel drive only. Both the T5 and T6 come with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
In another report by Car and Driver, the website noted that the V90 is perhaps the world's most beautiful wagon. It is gorgeous - from its concave grille to its artfully beveled backside. Its wagon-y rear is a good balance to its long hood. In addition, the tail lamps zigzag is also a nice touch.
The V90's interior is identical to the S90. It has a clean cabin with a portrait-oriented infotainment screen as its centerpiece. It has other beautiful details like its wood trim, the grilles for its speakers, and knurled switches and knobs.
A high-performance Polestar model could also be available according to sources. In addition, the new Volvo will come with the new semi-autonomous Pilot Assist technology similar to the S90. It will likely feature 360-degree cameras, parking assist, collision mitigation, active high-beams, and large-animal detection.
The 2018 Volvo V90 will head to the United States this summer. Will it be offered as a high-end version of the Cross Country or will it come as something else?
