The 2018 BMW M5 will be one of the exquisite cars that BMW will be launching. The next-generation BMW M5 will reportedly be exclusively available with an eight-speed automatic paired to an advanced all-wheel drive setup.
It is revealed that the M5 will be all-wheel-drive. The M5 will give away the rear-wheel drive for the all-wheel drive system. Depending on the drive mode and situation, the car is capable of driving its rear wheels exclusively.
It is reported that the 2018 BMW M5 will weigh about the same as the outgoing model despite the larger body and the adoption of all-wheel drive. The car is made lighter but is stiffer in its body parts. The M5 will also feature a carbon-fibre roof and boot lid. It will also have more aluminum components.
The new M5 will feature wider front fenders with heat extraction vents. The 2018 BMW M5 has more aggressively styled front and rear fascias, reported Auto Blog.
The car boasts of being able to send 100 percent of power to the rear wheels. It is expected that the car will have 600 horsepower and a 0-62 mph time comfortably below 4.0 seconds. The improved traction will reportedly see the M5's 0-100km/h time drop from 4.3 seconds to around 3.5s, reported Car Scoop.
The new M5 will use the existing 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8. There will be improvements made which will soar the power to around 440kW. It is reported that the engine delivers 412kW/680Nm in standard trim and 423kW/680Nm for the Competition Package models.
These are some of the features that will make the 2018 BMW M5 more than competitive with the latest Mercedes-AMG E63, which in S guise has a 450kW/850Nm 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, and a 0-100km/h time of 3.4 seconds. The current M5 has a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
It is reported that the 2018 BMW M5 will make its debut at September's Frankfurt motor show. The next-generation BMW has all the features to sizzle the road.
