The 2017 Honda Civic Si sedan test mule was spotted hiding in plain sight in Ohio. Although it was clad in heavy camouflage, it wasn't able to fully hide the protruding pieces that resembled closely to the prototype concept that debuted at last year's Los Angeles Auto Show. Let's make out what the spy shots have.
Exterior. It appears that the next-generation Civic Si sedan has a lower rear wing, keeping it from being too much racy like its relative, the Type R or the Civic Sport hatchback that both went overboard with scoops and vents. It does look tamer with larger wheels and a toned down body kit.

According to CarAndDriver, the 2017 Honda Civic Si sedan will be sharing the same chassis as with all 10-gen Civic variants, but with some minor specific tuning. And adaptive dampers, Honda Factory Performance (HFP) aerodynamics kit, and high-performance tires on 19-inch wheels will be offered as optional additions for those who want to go the extra mile and flaunt.
Powertrain. Again, based on the spy shots, a more powerful engine might be hiding under the hood of the 2017 Honda Civic Si, although it will not be as powerful as the Type R. An uprated version of the standard Civic's turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder should provide around 200 horsepower and would most likely be enough to compete with the likes of Volkswagen GTI and Ford Focus ST.
Power will be sent to the ground via a six-speed manual transmission. Limited-slip differential, new active damper system, and active steering could be additional options.
Interior. Since the exterior resembles closely with the concept version, there is good possibility that the interior will as well. We could expect red accents highlighting a sportier nature and Si logo. There could be bolstered front seats and carbon fiber trim pieces, reports Motor1, much like that in the concept.
Pricing. The 2017 Honda Civic Si sedan could be priced to the tune of $24,000. This puts it above the Civic 1.5T, which is at $22,375, but simply below the Ford Focus ST and way below the Type R.
We can't tell for sure when the 2017 Honda Civic Si coupe and sedan will hit dealerships but reports note that this could be around this year. Whether the sedan would arrive earlier or the coupe, we will have to wait until Honda makes an official debut. But until then, we will keep you posted.
