General Motors has designed new safety technologies to help make Cadillac customer's daily commute a little bit easier.

Three 2013 Cadillac models will include the company's Driver Assist technology that incorporates automatic breaking, radar, cameras, and ultrasonic sensors to make ordinary traffic situations safer than ever before.

The company even promises in certain low-speed instances, the vehicle will be able to break automatically to help prevent a collision according to a company press release.

"The mall parking packed with cars making it difficult to see what's coming, or the parking deck at work, or the stop and go of a freeway commute, these are hassles that drivers navigate every day," said James Bell, General Motors head of consumer affairs in the press release. "Cadillac Driver Assist can help make these situations less treacherous and maybe more bearable."

GM's Driver Assist technology includes a number of different features to make dealing with traffic and a daily commute that much easier like Full Speed Adaptive Cruise Control which is an enhancement compared to the normal cruise control by allowing drivers to manage the car's acceleration and braking automatically from a driver-set highway "cruising" speed down to a full stop according to GM.

Another feature includes Rear Cross Traffic Alert, which scans areas near the car on each side and alerts the driver of the vehicle when backing up if it is safe or not. Cadillac's Safety Alert Seat also warns the driver of traffic approaching the vehicle on either side through seat vibration pulses.

"Most of us think of driving a luxury car on open roads, and of course cars like the new ATS sport sedan are right at home doing that," said Bell according to the company press release. "But traffic and parking situations are way more common. A great car should help you in those conditions, too."

Automatic front and rear breaking applies automatically in certain parking lot, driveway, and heavy traffic conditions if another vehicle is detected in front or behind your vehicle.

The Driver Assist package is available in all-new XTS luxury sedans, the ATS and the SRX luxury crossover.
