The battle of the drones continues with two of the best from competing brands. The DJI Mavic Pro and GoPro Karma are two of the popular drones considered by photography and videography enthusiasts. It is interesting to know what both are capable of offering and see if the competition is a tough one.
Both GoPro Karma and DJI Mavic Pro are considered two entirely different drones, however, it is inevitable for users and enthusiasts to have it compared neck-and-neck. These are two of the more popular brands from the competitors with almost the same features and specifications so it is understandable why comparisons are necessary. Almost is an understatement as one may have more than the other.
The site Peta Pixel provides interesting insights on this battle. Different considerations were taken into account and eventually have produced the overall winner. The battle begins with weight. In this aspect, the DJI Mavic Pro wins the round for only weighing 1.62 pounds as compared to the bulkier GoPro Karma weighing in at 2.22 pounds.
Portability is also important especially for those enthusiasts who are out to explore the world and capture the beauty and wonders it offers with the help of a drone. When folded, the Mavic Pro again wins the round for measuring 83 x 83 x 198mm as compared to Karma measuring 89.9 x 224.3 x 356.2mm. Mavic Pro is significantly more portable with the given measurements which makes it easier and more convenient to bring to varying locations.

Time is of the essence and speed is the primary requirement. Unfortunately, GoPro Karma yet again loses the round. DJI Mavic Pro is faster as it can fly for up to 40mph while on Sport Mode. On the other hand, the Karma only is capable of flying 35mph.
DJI Mavic Pro is also equipped with obstacle sensors. This is for its FlightAutonomy obstacle avoidance system. The GoPro Karma lacks features such as obstacle avoidance and "Follow Me" mode.
As added by Wired, the DJI Mavic Pro's camera is also impressive. It is good that it can produce cinematic shots by playing and tinkering with the focus. However, it still needs a little bit more improvement in terms of focus. In some instances, focusing on the foreground and a horizon will be at times blurry. This is a certain pitfall but compared to the Karma, Mavic Pro is still better.
In conclusion, DJI Mavic Pro is better than GoPro Karma. Unfortunately, even the video below states that GoPro Karma is the worst drone the host has ever flown. Look, GoPro Karma should also be given credit for trying. It does put up a good fight, no questions asked. Again, in all its likelihood, both drones are meant to be compared after all.
