Neil Fingleton was an English actor well-known for his role in "Game Of Thrones" and basketball player. He was the tallest British-born man and the tallest man in the European Union at 7ft 7.56 in height and among the 25 tallest men in the world.
According to Washington Post, "Game Of Thrones" actor Neil Fingleton was 36 years old when he died. The cause of death was a heart ailment. Before he started acting he used to play basketball at the University of North Carolina and at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Mass. He led the team to the state finals in 1999. He also played for Great Britain in the World University Games in China and professionally in Spain and Greece. In 2000, Neil Fingleton was injured and had a back surgery.
In 2007, he was named the United Kingdom’s tallest man by Guinness World Records. He reported that at the time he was 16, he was 7-foot-5. He retired from basketball because of injuries and turned towards acting. He gained a large fan base by playing larger-than-life characters such Mag the Mighty on “Game of Thrones”. His character died at the end of Season 4 of the show. He also played in the action films “X-Men: First Class” and “47 Ronin”, as well as the British fantasy series “Doctor Who”. Two months ago, Game of Thrones fans lost another actor. Peter Vaughan who played Castle Black’s Maester Aemon died in December at age 93.
Radio Boston reported that whole of Worcester has very fond memories of Neil Fingleton. According to his friends, he was a big guy with the biggest heart.
