Microsoft's Xbox Live Creators Program - A New Scheme To Make Game Catalog Grow?

Mar 01, 2017 03:02 PM EST | Jayde Winston

Recent news, Microsoft announces a new game self-publishing scheme that is Xbox Live Integrated ready. Similar to ID@Xbox program, the Xbox Live Creators Program allows independent developers and studios to publish their games to Xbox One and Windows 10 through a simplified certification process, meaning no approval required.

The Xbox Live Creators Program incorporates same functionality with ID@Xbox program. It allows developers to integrate Xbox Live social experiences like sign-ins, presence, leaderboards, and more. In contrast with the ID@Xbox program, the new Xbox Live Creators Program will be available at the "Creator Game Section" on the Xbox and Windows Store.

The downside for Xbox Live Creators Program is that it does not support Multiplayer and Achievements. It is a bit strange to see and play a game that does not have success basis since that is what make players engaged more in the match.

According to Mspoweruser.com, "Developers who want to quickly publish games to Xbox One and Windows 10 with a simplified certification process and no concept approval should select Xbox Live Creators Program. Developers who want access to more Xbox Live capabilities, be featured in the main Xbox One store, or receive dedicated marketing and development support should apply to the ID@Xbox program." Nonetheless, the Xbox Live Creators Program will launch this summer. To implement and join the Preview for Xbox Live Creators Program, click here.

The membership cost is $9.99 per month and is set to release Spring of 2017. Players will then enjoy great games from large developers such as 2K, Bandai Namco, Capcom, SEGA, and much more.
