Mitsubishi is not ready to be left out. The automaker has come up with its own crossover SUV - the Eclipse Cross. The vehicle is set to make its debut at the Geneva Show.
One word that best describes the new crossover is 'Aggressive.' From the reports, the crossover has taken a page or two from XR-PHEV II Concept.
Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross has not deviated a lot from the existing Outlander Sport. The massive SUV crossover has a forward-raked rear hatch, chunky rear fenders, and deep crease along the side. The grille of the crossover is what is very unique. It can be called as Mitsubishi's best-looking grille, reported Auto Blog.
The crossover is powered using just one engine and one transmission. The engine is a turbocharged 1.5-liter gasoline inline-four, and it's channeled through a CVT with 8 ratios that can be manually shifted. The output for the four-pot is yet to be announced. In markets other than the U.S., the customers will have an option of a 2.2-liter turbocharged diesel four-cylinder with an 8-speed automatic, reported Trendolizer.
The interior of Eclipse Cross is no less aggressive. The overall color is black and aluminum. What catches one's eye immediately is the center stack. This stack slides downwards toward the shifter and pops out over the climate control buttons. A touch-pad is attached next to the slider.
On top of the dash, there is a touch pad which activates the car's default user interface, or the supported Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. Also, there is a display on top of the dash.
Comfort is not overlooked as the sliding and reclining rear seats look very friendly. Cargo space is also good in the SUV. It boasts of an all-wheel drive which gained much fanfare.
The Eclipse Cross will debut at Geneva and it will make way to the dealers in 2017 fall. The price for the enormous SUV crossover has not been announced yet.
