The company is hoping that if the "reasonable" price doesn't draw customers in, the improved fuel economy will. The new vehicles will also operate in all-electric mode more often and for longer periods of time, thanks to an advanced version of Hyundai's Hybrid Blue Drive architecture according to the press release.
The updated architecture enhances the electric-only mode by adding a larger capacity 10.5 kW Hybrid Starter Generator (HSG), a more powerful 47 kW lithium Polymer battery, and an enhanced operating system according to Hyundai.
These enhancements are combined with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that now runs on a more efficient Atkinson cycle and a transmission that generates 206 total horsepower.
When the vehicle is in pure electric drive, the Hybrid can go electrically up to 75 miles per hour according to the press release.
Hyundai engineers also included a number of new features for the Hybrid Package like:
-16-inch Eco-spoke alloy wheels
-Electronic stability control with traction control system
-A tinted chrome front grille
-4.2-inch color TFT trip computer with hybrid technology features
-Power locks, windows, heated mirrors and seats
-Virtual Engine Sound System (VESS)
If you purchase the Hybrid Limited, engineers have designed the vehicle to include the following standard equipment:
-17-inch Eco-spoke alloy wheels with unique finish
-Heated rear seats
-Navigation system with high-resolution touch-screen display
