The latest Apple iPhone 8 claims are piling up since what everybody wants to talk about these days are every single sliver of information coming from "credible" sources, whoever they may be. In addition to the ongoing reports of a curved OLED display, it is interesting to note that for this week's digest, a very unexpected news popped up involving the adoption of a USB Type-C port. Bet you didn't see that coming.
The Wall Street Journal published a report that the new Apple iPhone 8 will feature the curved OLD display, much similar to Samsung's lineup. Ironic isn't it? The report furthered that "sources" claim "a USB-C port for the power cord and other peripheral devices instead of the company's original Lightning connector" will be used for the brand new iPhones.
OLED Display. While Samsung uses the Super AMOLED display, it is reportedly said that the new Apple iPhone 8 units will using the OLED display. If this were true, then this is the absolute best and will perhaps be the first ever phone to feature such. It looks like the Cupertino-based tech giant is going to be taking a page from Samsung and will using their curved display.
According to Forbes, TWSJ's supplier source did confirm the OLED version for the iPhone and will have a "function area." This will be located just below the Home button and Touch ID display, which would be embedded into the device. Say goodbye to the standard physical button.
Also notable is that reports claim that the new iPhone will have the same body size as that of the iPhone 7, 4.7 inches. But Ming-Chi Kuo noted that it will feature a 5.8-inch display with 5.15 inches of usable area, with the rest dedicated to virtual buttons. So, it is interesting how this will work when the phone finally launches.
USB Type-C. Next up is the explosive story that got everyone is freaking out, or excited. The earlier-cited report claims that iPhones will move away from the lightning cable and will use a USB Type-C port, which is a widely accepted and widely used form of cables to charge and transfer data and hook up monitors and do all sorts of stuff.
#iPhone8 adopting USB-C could usher in world peace.

The Cupertino-based tech giant already uses this with their MacBooks so it isn't surprising if the new iPhones will have this feature when it launches later this year. The big deal about this is that since so many Apple users have lightning cables, these will soon become obsolete. But there could still be a lightning adapter so that old lightning cables can still be used.
Don't get your hopes up just yet. Consider the possibility that the phrasing of the article is taken the wrong way. Although TWSJ is pretty big and popular, they didn't actually cite their reliable "source."
They worded that "USB-C will be used for the power cable." This could mean either way, such that they could be changing the other end of the lightning cord that you use to charge your iPhone with from USBC to lightning.
So, the iPhone 8 could keep lightning but that little cable that goes to the outlet on the wall, that could be the USB Type-C which could support fast-charging and of course plug-in to all your current-day MacBook.
But these are all theories of course and take these into consideration. It didn't really say that the iPhone 8 will have USB Type-C port on it, but will ship with USB Type-C tech. And it is really questionable if Apple would replace the Lightning cable this early.
MacRumors reports that the Apple iPhone 8 could priced along the lines of "over a $1000." The question now is: Can you afford this?
Until the Apple iPhone 8 officially launches, we will keep an eye out for you. So, stay tuned for more updates on the latest in the world of iPhone.
