An East Texas jury has sentenced two women to prison after convicting them of kidnapping a Houston boy when he was only 8 months old and hiding him for eight years before he was found according to the Associated Press.

San Augustine jurors sentenced Gloria Walker to 30 years in jail for injuring the child and eight years for kidnapping. Both sentences will be served concurrently according to the report.

Her daughter, Krystle Tanner, was also sentenced to eight years for kidnapping and eight years for reckless injury to a child, which will be served concurrently.

"I didn't do nothing wrong," said Walker. She also told jurors she had very little contact with the boy, saying she was focused more on dealing with various health problems. "I didn't know they were looking for him. I didn't know he was missing."

Both Walker and Tanner stated they did nothing wrong to the boy, and he had been given to them, which was proven false in court.

The boy, Miguel Morin, is now 8-years-old and disappeared in 2004. Prosecutors were able to prove both of the women neglected him during the time he was with them.

Jurors only deliberated for two hours before finding the two guilty of kidnapping Morin. The women also kept him out of school and renamed him Jaquan according to the Examiner.

"If Ms. Walker and Ms. Tanner had a right to little Miguel, why wasn't he in school?" San Augustine County District Attorney Kevin Dutton said according to the Associated Press. "Why didn't you get the rest of his immunizations? Why didn't you take him to the dentist? They knew they didn't have that right. They knew they couldn't put that baby out in the public eye."

The boy's parents were not in the courtroom during the closing arguments, but the boy's mother Champion-Morin stated her son was taken by Tanner and that Houston police did not keep in touch with her about the case according to the Associated Press.
