Three Kia vehicles won the iF Design Awards for their great design. Models like Niro, Optima Sportswagon, and Rio were given awards for their amazing design.
This is not the first time the company has received the award, this actually marks the eighth consecutive years Kia won the award. So far, the company has received 12 awards from the award giving body.
Scoop Business reported that iF Design Awards was established in 1953 making it the world's oldest contest for design. For this year, iF Design Awards had 59 participants that gave 5,500 products.
Chief Designers of Kia Motors Corporation, Peter Schreyer, explained that the IF Awards that they received this year is a recognition for their excellent global design team. Schreyer explained that the models came from their design centers located in Korea, Germany and the United States.
This is not the only award the company got the previous years. In 2012, they won two awards in the prestigious Red Dot Award where Kia won against 1,800 manufacturers from 58 countries, Top Gear previously reported.
Now, the company won another award. Peter Schreyer explained that its company was able to push into new market sectors carving out a distinctive position with its innovative and attractive design.
Niro was awarded because it was able to merge features without compromising its aesthetic design. It managed to be functional and sleek all at once. Automotive News reported that this un-hybrid car can now be bought in Canada starting from $24,995.
As for the Rio, its award further solidifies the car on its New Zealand market. The award-winning car, known for its bold, modern and efficient design, will be on sale in the country this year.
Optima Sportswagon was the first Kia car created for the family estate segment. Other reports say that it rivals cars like Vauxhall Insignia, Ford Mondeo and Skoda Superb. Sportage, Sorento SUV, Optima Sports Sedan also won the iF Design Award previously.
