Jimmy Kimmel and Matt Damon have had a long standing "faux feud." This started during the third season of "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" when Damon was bumped off the show due to time constraints.
The faux-feud between Kimmel and Damon started sometime in 2005 during the third season of the talk show host's show. Kimmel decided to pull a prank on Damon by bumping him off the show for the amusement of one of the show's producers. The producer got a kick out of it, and Kimmel started doing it every night to amuse him.
Kimmel explained that there was no particular reason he chose the Bourne actor. Matt Damon just popped into his head as an A-list star the show would not usually bump off.
The feud escalated when Sarah Silverman, Kimmel's then-girlfriend, made a viral music video with Damon which revolved around Silverman saying "I'm F-king Matt Damon." Silverman appeared on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" to even present the song to Kimmel as a surprise.
Kimmel also made his own viral music video. In his video, Brad Pitt and Ben Affleck had cameos, and Kimmel was singing the words "I'm F-king Ben Affleck."
Oscars 2017. During this year's Oscars, Jimmy Kimmel couldn't help himself and kept the faux feud's firing burning. During his opening monolog, the late-night talk show host took a jab at Matt Damon with a fat joke.
According to E News, during Kimmel's opening monolog, he mentioned that he's known Matt Damon a long time. The Oscars host said he's known Damon so long that when they first met, he was the fat one. Kimmel also faux commended Damon for dropping out of the starring role in "Manchester by the Sea" to star in a "Chinese ponytail movie" that lost $80 million.
In another interview, Kimmel also jokingly told The Hollywood Reporter that he would do everything he could to make sure that Damon didn't win wouldn't know that he won. Ultimately his goal was to keep him offstage, he jokingly remarked.
Jimmy Kimmel and Matt Damon's faux feud was a delight to see at this year's Oscars. It made light of the "Steve Harvey part 2" incident when "La La Land" lost to "Moonlight" for Best Picture. What do you think about the Kimmel and Damon feud? Share your thoughts and comments below.
