The new 2018 Chevrolet Traverse marks a new era for the company's full-size crossover. The redesigned car offers technologies to help keep old passengers and lifestyles comfortable and connected.
The new model looks much better than any of its previous versions. It receives a bigger grille and thinner for 2018. Its hood is more squared off than before, chrome accents adorn the striking grille, with the new High Country model receiving the most bling. In addition, sporty redline versions get a blacked-out bow tie emblem, black wheels, and other updates.
The new 2018 Chevrolet Traverse is powerful enough to stand toe-to-toe against some of the most powerful models in the market today. It's equipped with a 3.6-liter V6 engine as a new standard powertrain. The engine can produce 305 hp and 260 pound-feet of torque. This is matched with a nine-speed automatic transmission that gives the power to the front wheel drive, but customers can also have an option for an all-wheel drive configuration.
For then RS model, it will be powered by a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder engine that produces 255 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. It's also paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission with a similar configuration as the other trims.
U.S. vice president of Chevrolet, Brian Sweeney, said: "Our special edition lineup has been popular with customers and dealers. "Since the introduction of special editions on vehicles the like Silverado and Camaro, vehicle average transaction prices have increased, time to turn has decreased, and conquest rates have risen, which has contributed to making Chevrolet the fastest-growing brand in the industry two years in a row."
On the inside, the new model gets a larger 7 or 8-inch touchscreen replacing the old 6.5-inch screen. The automaker has freed up space right below the central display and in front of the shifter to have a more open cabin look.
The 2018 Chevrolet Traverse is already scheduled to hit showrooms across U.S. in September. Prices, however, have not yet been announced, but it is anticipated that Chevrolet will make the announcement as the launch date of the new model draws closer.
