The 2017 Nascar opening race, Camping World Truck Series ended in a final lap crash that stole the race lead from Matt Crafton last February 25. This ended with Kaz Grala from GMS racing winning the race.
ESPN reported Matt Crafton was ahead in the last corner of the last lap when Ben Rhodes accidentally clipped the back of his truck. This caused Carlton's car to flip in the air, gave him a hair-raising experience and costing him the Race.
It decimated almost half of the racers. Nineteen cars were reported taken out of the race on account of the last lap crash of the 2017 NASCAR Opening Race.
Fan Sided confirmed that 18-year-old rookie driver for GMS Racing Kaz Grala took the pole at the start of the race. The race was so intense at the get go that a crash happened during just the 2nd lap. Almost a dozen trucks were involved in the melee. Then another large crash happened on the 23rd lap of the race that took out race leaders Bret Moffitt and Christopher Bell along with almost half the racers.
When everybody thought Matt Crafton would take the race for ThorSports Racing a last lap crash ended his bid. In a miraculous turn of events, Kaz Grala managed to squeak past the ongoing melee and crossed the finish line ahead of everybody else. The rookie driver who became the youngest winner of the 2017 NASCAR was so stunned by the result that he did not know how to react after the race.
Meanwhile, the last lap crash was not the only incident that occurred during the race. that another near ending crash occurred on the 23rd lap of the race. The incident happened when the truck of Scott Lagasse hit the car of Tyler Reddick according to Fox Sports.The pile-up was so horrific that it red-flagged the event for almost 19 minutes.
Looks like more thing will be coming up in the 2017 Nascar series. Spectators are hoping these incidents will be the last as Daytona continues this week.
