Samsung Secure Folder App Officially Released For Samsung Galaxy S7 And S7 Edge!

The giant tech Samsung has officially released its Secure Folder app for the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, following a leaked version of the app that leaked earlier this week. This app serves a way for users to keep personal information safe and private.

The app uses Samsung's Knox security platform to create a separate, sandboxed space on a device where users can save important notes, apps, images, contacts or documents. Filed stored in Secure Folder is only accessible through PIN, pattern, passcode, or biometric authentication.

The Samsung Secure Folder was first launched with the Galaxy Note 7 and also to some Galaxy A-series models. Users can make copies of their favorite apps and access them through an alternative profile. The apps browsing history within the Secure Folder will also be kept separate from the same apps outside the folder.

This app can be useful to those who want to keep their banking information safe while giving out their devices to some friends, Samsung said. "Apps and data moved to Secure Folder are sandboxed separately on the device and gain an additional layer of security and privacy, thus further protecting them from malicious attacks," Samsung added.

For additional privacy, users can also customize their Secure Folder by changing its icon and name. They can as well hide the Secure Folder icon from their phone's home screen altogether via Quick Panel.

Furthermore, Secure Folder also supports cloud-based backup and restore to provide an easier way to transfer to a new device. Backup data in the Secure Folder is isolated from the general backup files. Hence, backup data can only be restored to the Settings inside the App, and only by the original account user.

Samsung Folder is currently available for download from Galaxy Apps, and also compatible with the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge handsets supporting Android OS 7.0 or later versions. Samsung said that it plans to extend support to more devices soon.
