Despite mentioning she wanted to keep all questions directed towards the upcoming NASCAR season, the first dozen or so directed towards Danica Patrick on Valentine's Day were about her new boyfriend.
For most drivers, a new relationship isn't worth discussing to the media, but Patrick was hounded by reporters about how things were going with fellow driver Ricky Stenhouse Jr at Daytonna 500 Media Day.
"Initially it was a mental hurdle of, 'we compete against each other,' " said Patrick according to USA Today. "It's like the Capulets and the Montagues with Chevy and Ford. This just all doesn't work. But you can't tell your heart who to like or not like, so it ended up being I didn't think it was even a big deal at all."

The relationship between the two hasn't gone unnoticed by fellow NASCAR drivers, including defending series champion Brad Keselowski who suggested NASCAR should bring back the two-car tandem to provide for more joking opportunities.
"We're a creative group, I'm sure we'll come up with some great jokes," Keselowski said according to USA Today. "I don't think it's as much a story that they're dating than as if they were to break up. That'd be incredible to watch, to be quite honest! There's so many ways it could go. Imagine if they were to wreck each other for the next six races. That would be way more compelling!"
After one reporter stated the fact that Stenhouse likes to drive sideways, he asked Patrick what would happen if he were to do that to her during a race.
"He better have a really good, 'I'm sorry,' " Patrick said to reporters according to USA Today. "I got a feeling that PR is sweating their butts off over there."
Patrick announced in November that she and her husband Hospenthal were divorcing after seven years of marriage. She revealed on Jan. 3 that the filing was official since her marriage to the 47-year-old was "irretrievably broken."
