This week is filled with surprises coming from the highly anticipated 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon. Earlier this week, Dodge revealed that the upcoming muscle car will be equipped with a special "drag mode" mated to an equally dedicated suspension. The cherry on top are spy shots of what appeared to be the Demon's test mules.

Special "drag mode" + unique suspension setup. The Demon was designed for "absolute domination" in drag racing, thus competent in almost all conditions it will likely face, reports MotorAuthority. So, Dodge outfitted the muscle from Hell with a combination of a special "drag mode" and a unique suspension setup.
This resulted in a one-of-a-kind mechanical/electronic drag-race-specific suspension tuning on a production car. This by the way is the first of its kind.
In other words, the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon will have lower front and rear spring rates, a hollow front sway bar, and adaptive dampening shocks. This helps optimize weight transfer and traction at the rear rubber with minimal effects on lateral stability. Thus, Owners will be able to tame this beast from Hell efficiently.
The reason why this is the first setup for a street car is that others think this is both an insane and ridiculous idea. Perhaps, Dodge will be the first to test this out. And this is Dodge!
Spy shots. Jalopnik reports that prototypes of the Demon were caught testing in the Detroit area. Noticeable are massive hood scoops and front tires, specifically winter tires.
Remember the car that Vin Diesel stood next to during behind-the-scenes footage of "The Fate of the Furious." Well, these test mules looked a lot like those Challengers wearing a Demon badge with a wide-body kit and a large hood scoop.
It also appears that these Demon test mules have more than on seat and is wearing a Nitto window decal. Plus, all the test mules are clad in Pirelli tires. These are definitely not the 315/40R18 NT05R drag radials that the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon is getting. Oh, don't forget those hood pins, which are totally absent in teaser images of the Demon.
Exactly how much power the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon will boast hasn't been officially mentioned, but we definitely know it is higher compared with the Hellcat. This steroid-pumped vehicle will debut at the New York Auto Show.
So, watch out the for the upcoming 7 more videos which will be released as its reveal day draws nearer. And if you have forgotten, it will be April 12, which is 2 days before "The Fate of the Furious" hits theatres. This is just one other clue that the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon might star in the film. In the meantime, check out "Third Law" teaser below.
