General Motors announced this week that Chevrolet Sonic and Spark vehicles equipped with Chevrolet MyLink will be made available with Siri, the "intelligent assistant" designed by Apple to help users get things done by just asking according to a company press release.

Though all new vehicles com with an infotainment system to assist drivers, customers with Apple products like the iPhone 5 that runs on iOS 6 or higher can direct Siri to perform a number of different tasks so they can keep their eyes on the road.

"The Chevy Sonic and Spark are the first vehicles to offer Siri Eyes Free integration," said Cristi Landy, Chevrolet marketing director for small cars. "Safe, easy, reliable and portable connectivity is a top priority for our customers, and Siri complements MyLink's existing capabilities to help deliver an incredible driving experience."

All iPhone users have to do is connect their phone with the MyLink radio via Bluetooth, pair with the system, and use the steering wheel voice activation button to begin and end sessions with Siri in Eyes Free mode according to GM.

By using MyLink in the 2013 Spark and Sonic, Apple owners can use Eyes Free mode to:

-Make voice activated, hands-free calls to Contacts on their iPhone

-Listen to, compose and send an iMessage or Text to a phone number or anyone in saved Contacts

  -Access Calendar and add appointments

-Play songs in their iTunes libraries, and even switch music sources automatically from AM/FM/XM radio to iPod mode

Siri is available in Beta only on iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, the iPad (third and fourth generations), the iPad mini and the fifth generation iPod touch.

Six months of OnStar's Directions and Connections service is also standard when purchasing a Spark or Sonic vehicle. OnStar provides safety, security, and connectivity to both models, and their services includes Automatic Crash Response, Stolen Vehicle Assistance, and Roadside Assistance.

Current 2013 Chevrolet Spark and Sonic owners can upgrade existing MyLink radios for Siri capability starting next month according to GM.
