The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado spy photos are currently circling the internet. The all-new model of the pickup has been spied winter testing.
The next generation Silverado was seen winter testing earlier this month. The test mule was heavily camouflaged to cover up any major changes on its exterior appearance. However, it is visible that the new model will have dual-exit exhaust tips, additional frontal LED lighting and prominent grab handles on the A-pillar.
Based on the photos, it appears that the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 will have six-lug wheels. This is a clear indication that it will be a 1/2-ton model.
According to reports, the new Silverado 1500 will be equipped with modern technology. This is something the 2014 model lacked.
It was also reported to possibly have a handful of aluminum body panels. The next generation Silverado is expected to shed weight for maximum efficiency, as well. It is expected to use different materials and manufacturing technologies to make it even lighter than before.
According to Car and Driver, the Silverado will ride on an all-new frame. However, the pickup truck's basic setup is not going to change. As usual, consumers will have the option to choose from standard-wheel drive to the optional four or all-wheel drive.
As for what's under the hood, the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is expected to come with a pair of base engines. One's an updated version of the 4.3-liter V-6 engine and the other's a turbocharged four-cylinder engine.
The four-cylinder engine is designed to help the truck's fuel efficiency. As for the transmission, both engines is said to use General Motor's eight-speed automatic transmission.
The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 spy photos can be seen below. It is expected to debut at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show next year. Speculations say the pricing should start at $28,880 up to $60,000 with all the upgrades.
