The 2017 AMG Marauder GT R made its official debut at the 2017 Miami International Boat Show last Thursday. This 50-foot high-performance boat is the product of a tight collaboration between Mercedes and Cigarette Racing and marks their 10th-year anniversary.
This 50-foot-racing boat is basically the nautical version of the Mercedes-AMG GT R coupe, which is set to hit showrooms this summer. Both companies have paired multiple cars with their high-performance boats, which include the GT S, SLS, and the G-wagen. Thus, for 2017, to celebrate AMG's 50 years and a decade-long partnership, they made a version of the Mercedes-AMG GT R coupe that will soar through water.

While the Mercedes-AMG GT R packs a 4-liter twin-turbocharge V8 producing 577 h, the 2017 AMG Marauder GT R boasts a combined 3,100 horsepower. This is thanks to a pair of Mercury Racing engines and M8 stern drives.
Engine. There are two different performance settings for the 50-foot high-performance boat. If you want to enjoy and have a more relaxed cruising experience, then select the Pleasure key which has 1350 hp and uses a 91-octane fuel. But if you want to slice through water and experience the thrill of a lifetime, the Race key is the answer. With up to 1550 horsepower, it utilizes race fuel.
Exterior and interior. Both high-performance vehicles share a few elements such as the use of carbon fiber for construction. The 2017 AMG Marauder GT R was able to shed around 1,300 pounds thanks to the use of carbon fiber.
The boat's deck, consoles, and cockpit were developed using advanced laminate analysis techniques and were also built from carbon fiber foam core. "They [Mercedes] were instrumental helping us find ways to take weight out of the boat with carbon fiber, which the top deck, hatch and the console is all made of. That took about 1,300 pounds out of the boat, allowing us to run quicker and with a very high center of gravity," said CMO Scott Preacher as reported by Forbes.
The coupe's signature Green Hell Mango paint is used on the Marauder GT R. A special logo has been added by designers to commemorate both earlier-mentioned anniversaries. AMG designers upholstered the seats and added a geometric pattern to it.
Testing. Josh Max of Forbes took out the 2017 AMG Marauder GT R to rip through the seas using its high-performance engine. However, he noted that it was not as fast as the world's fastest torpedo. But it does feel that way. They were able to reach 110 mph and there is no doubt that this nautical racing demon is a world class in its own velocity.
Pricing. Digital Trends pricing details for the 2017 AMG Marauder GT R will be available "upon request." But this is "only one of one" and they probably will not build a second demon of the seas.
