The Pagani Huayra Roadster is already sold out ahead of its official debut at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. Hardcore car enthusiasts and those with deep pockets were ready to dive in after Pagani chopped off the coupe's roof. But is the Pagani drop-top truly worth its asking price?
What Horacio Pagani, founder of the Italian automaker, made clear is that the Pagani Huayra Roadster is not a Huayra coupe with no roof. But this is a whole different car, a brand new one. However, removing the coupe's roof was the hardest and most complicated move the Italian automaker had to do. At least they did, as the new drop-top vehicle has become a head-turner.

Name after the God of the Wind, the Italian automaker did the right move of removing the coupe's roof. Of course, buyers will get 2 roof mechanisms, per News Au. One is a carbon top with a central glass section. This is removable, but cannot be stored in the car.
The second is a temporary feature that can be used when the weather suddenly turns south. It is basically a fabric cover with a carbon frame, which can be stored onboard.
Pagani said that all 100 examples of the Pagani Huayra Roadster have been sold out. This is a bit surprising despite the vehicle costing twice as much compared with the coupe version.
Powering this sexy supercar is a twin-turbo, 6-liter V12 engine. It produces 764 horses and 740 lb-ft of torque and drives the rear wheels via a seven-speed sequential manual gearbox.
This is even faster than the new Aventador. Watch out Lambo. Although official numbers aren't out just yet, expect a 0 to 100 dash of around 3 seconds with a top speed of around 350 km/h.
Wired reports that Pagani Huayra Roadster only weighs around 2,822 pounds, 176-pound lighter compared with the coupe. This is impressive considering usually convertibles are heavier due to mechanicals needed to raise and lower the roof and bracing needed to stiffen the chassis.
Six years since the first inception of the Huayra, Pagani finally designed a brand new drop-top vehicle with new materials and a more powerful engine. Perhaps, the price tag of this bad boy suits its magnificent and sexy appeal. No wonder all 100 units sold like pancakes.
