Honda has finally decided officially unveil the production version of its 2017 Civic Type-R. The Japanese car manufacturer is all set to reveal the vehicle at the Geneva Auto Show next month.
The 2017 Honda Civic Type-R production version reveal. The 2017 Civic Type-R is the successor to the already amazing 10th generation Civic. The vehicle has been speculated to be released very soon since it has been confirmed to roll out in Australia by the end of this year. The official announcement will be made at the Geneva Auto Show in March.
The Japanese car manufacturer has previously confirmed that the vehicle will go into official production in the UK at its Swindon factory this coming summer. The excitement surrounding the car is all due to the speculation that the vehicle could finally be made available to the United States market anytime this year.
The details of the production version of the vehicle have not been released yet but fans are expecting it to be somewhat similar in terms of specs to the prototype revealed earlier. The prototype featured a distinct design which includes a prominent hood scoop, smoked LED headlights, extended wheels, a quite prominent rear spoiler, and a carbon fiber splitter.
It is expected that the car will sport a better engine than the 2.0-liter turbocharged gas engine on the outgoing model which is able to produce 306 horsepower and 295 Nm of torque. It is possible that the new engine could produce more horsepower and more or less 450 Nm of torque and mated to a six-speed manual transmission. With this power, it is speculated that 2017 Civic Type-R could go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 5.0 seconds.
In other Honda-related news, the Japanese car manufacturer is also expected to reveal a new EV concept car at the upcoming auto show. The new EV concept car is called the NeuV and is a supposedly autonomous and packed with cutting-edge car technology.
The Geneva Auto Show will run from March 9 to March 19. It will be held at the Geneva Palexpo convention center located next to the Geneva Cointrin International Airport.
