The Philadelphia 76ers are reportedly hell-bent in what the media now calls the Jahlil Okafor Trade. The team has benched their center in their last two road games in order to drum up interest in the trade.
The situation of Jahlil Okafor trade is an open secret. Management is in midst of talks regarding trade situations. It would be awkward to let him play while this is ongoing, Sixers head Coach Brent Brown confirmed.
It was reported by Sporting News that the Philadelphia 76ers and New Orleans pelicans are in the middle of a discussion to trade the center in exchange for Pelicans center Alexis Ajinca and its first round draft pick. Okafor's 2015 -2016 season was shortened due to his knee injury.
His performance this season is a far cry from his rookie season. He was averaging 17.5 points, 7 rebounds while he is only contributing 11.6 points and 4.8 rebounds this year. Jahlil Okafor trade is also being discussed with the Chicago Bulls and Denver Nuggets.
Recent developments had found Okafor in his Sixers uniform against the Boston Celtics. He had 4 points and 4 rebounds during the game. According to The Enquirer, the much reported Jahlil Okafor trade deal has not yet materialized.
Pressed for comments, Okafor said that he is just sitting around and waiting for the call that he is to wear a new set of uniforms. Instead, he received a call that if he would want to. He can play against the Boston Celtics.
NJ confirms that if Jahlil Okafor trade will be consummated, the Sixers wants a 2017 - 2018 season first-round draft for the exchange. The only problem with the scenario is everybody is expecting a strong and talent-laden roster for this year's draft. This might be a big hindrance if any trade is forthcoming. Jahlil Okafor is the 3rd round draft pick of the Sixers last season.
