Once the leader of the mobile phone industry, Nokia is making a comeback into the industry that it once dominated. The latest hint at this attempt is a leak which details the specs of the Nokia 3, one of the company's upcoming devices.
Nokia is expected to unveil its latest line of smartphones on Feb. 26 at this year's Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. However, weeks before the official launch, the alleged specs of the Nokia 3 was revealed via a leak.
Based on the leak, the Nokia 3 will feature a 5.3-inch display with 720p resolution. The leak also detailed that the phone will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 chipset with a quad-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz, according to Tech Times.
The Nokia 3 is expected to sport 2GB of memory and 16GB of storage space. Due to the limited storage space, there might be a possibility that the phone will support storage expansion, although no leak has confirmed this yet. On the camera aspect, the Nokia 3 will sport a 13-megapixel rear-facing main camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera for selfie shots and video calling, according to NDTV.
Given these specifications, it appears that the Nokia 3 smartphone is slated for the entry-level market. Which is why it is rather surprising that the phone will ship running on Android 7.0 Nougat. This is an interesting feature that Nokia can use as leverage when marketing the phone.
Given the specs and some of the phone's features, the Nokia 3 is expected to pick up a price tag of around $160. This is also an interesting price point since it will surely appeal to budget-conscious buyers. Additionally, competing on the very crowded high-end smartphone market can be costly, especially for Nokia which is in the process of restarting its business. Nokia has yet to confirm whether the phone will be released globally.
