Samsung next flagship will be coming sooner than most actually think. The Korean tech giant is expected to reveal the Samsung Galaxy S8 at an event late next month.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 release. According to a recently released report from The Wall Street Journal, the company will be introducing its 2017 flagship in late March at an event in New York. The new report is in line with previously released reports that Samsung will be launching the device on March 29 and that the smartphone would be going on sale sometime around April.
The Korean tech giant has declined to comment on the report. No other details have been revealed concerning the speculated release date, too.
The report from The Wall Street Journal suggests that the Korean device manufacturer will not be unveiling the Samsung Galaxy S8 at the Mobile World Congress later this month in Barcelona. The company traditionally unveils its next generation devices at the tech trade show especially the Galaxy S line of smartphones.
An article by VentureBeat had previously written that the change in the release date was for the company to have more time to work on the Galaxy S8. This is to ensure that the new smartphone does not suffer the same fate as the Galaxy Note 7 which users experienced exploding batteries with. The company is looking to bounce back up after seeing a decline in profits right after Galaxy Note 7 with the Galaxy S8.
There are speculations that when Samsung does reveal the Galaxy S8, it will sport a curved display touchscreen and come in two sizes. In addition, the smartphone will do away with a traditional home button and instead sport a fingerprint sensor and an iris scanner. The smartphone will also be the first phone to have Bixby, Samsung's very own virtual assistant to rival Apple's Siri, the Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, Microsoft's Cortana, and the upcoming Viki from Nokia.
